I got that can’t breathe kind of feeling. That punched in the stomach kind of feeling. Sure, part of that was a result of the high altitude, lack of oxygen, and extreme desperation for an inhaler. But it was mostly brought on by being completely awestruck by God. By His creation, power and creativity. Machu Picchu and the surrounding landscape was captivating. That is really the only word I can think to describe it. By definition, captivating is to capture, to attract and hold by charm, beauty, or excellence- exactly what the scenery depicted and exactly what God created-something so charming, beautiful and excellent that it took my breath away. The best part of all of this is that this creation belongs to the Lord. He owns it and cherishes it. Genesis 1:31 says, “God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.” AMEN to that. What I just witnessed was indeed, very good. In fact, it couldn’t have been any better. Unless of course I was provided a tank of oxygen to rapidly inhale and sherpa to carry my backpack.
be joyful always,
